Supreme Commander of the Imperial Forces was the rank and title bestowed to the Commander-in-Chief of the Galactic Empire's Military. The Supreme Commander was the head of the Imperial Military, managing all its affairs on behalf of the Galactic Emperor.
The Supreme Commander had far-reaching authority, responsible for the overall upkeep of the Empire's military and reporting to the Emperor directly on all matters concerned with the military. The Chiefs of Naval Operations and Army Operations both reported directly to the Supreme Commander. In the history of the Empire, there have only been two Supreme Commanders. The Supreme Commander did not answer to any Moff or the Imperial Ruling Council, and sat at the head of Imperial High Command.
