Kuat itself is located in the Kuat System, in Kuat Sector, in the Core Worlds near the Expansionist Region. Little is known about the history of the planet prior to its terraforming.

History[]

Pre-Republic[]

Although little is known about the history of the planet prior to its terraforming, it is known that the Kuati had a matriarchal society, and that it was colonized prior to the formation of the Republic, and would later send out colonization ships of its own.

Old Republic[]

Kuat was one of the Core Founders of the Republic. By the time of the Clone Wars, the planet was home to the Kuat Drive Yards corporation, which used its massive orbital starship construction yards to create some of the largest starships known to the Republic, such as the Venator-class Star Destroyers. The senator from Kuat during the Clone Wars, Giddean Danu was one of the signatories of the Petition of 2000.

A Minor Insurrection[]

Around 23 BBY, a small group of freedom fighters declared their opposition to another group of Seperatists, but were wiped out by Jango Fett. Around 21 BBY--perhaps in response to this event, the Republic defenses of the planet were strengthened, and the CIS countered by strenghtening their defenses at Cato Neimoidia.

Empire[]

Danu was replaced by someone more a member of the Kuati aristocracy, who were more in line with Palpatine's New Order, and became a staunch supporter of the Empire. Kuat Drive Yards, operating above the planet, served to produce the Empire's largest instruments of destruction, including the Star Dreadnoughts (or Super Star Destroyers).

Hit And Run[]

In 2 BBY, a Rebel Fleet led by Captain Antilles attacked the shipyards of Kuat, managing to lay waste to a portion of it before being threatened by an Imperial Star Destroyer from the nearby Fresian System and leaving the system. This distraction allowed the Rebels to raid Fresia and acquire the first X-wings.

New Republic/Galactic Empire[]

Kuat has always been an Imperial holding, and the only battles that have occurred over it thus far have been between Imperials squabbling for power.

Battle of Kuat[]

During the Moff Sekirol Crisis, Jorgen Sekirol planned an invasion of Kuat, and, with his INFERNO Cannon, stood poised for the destruction of the planet. Sekirol was unsuccessful with this, as his cannon was destroyed and he was forced to retreat to his final hiding place, the Gate of Thrawn, where he would later be killed.
